Outlook as a Contact Manager
If you find this tip helpful:

Microsoft Office do you use it? Of Course you do. But do
you use all the tools that are part of Word, Excel, Outlook
and PowerPoint - probably not. Everyone asks me about knowing
more about these great software programs, but just don’t
know what they should be asking. Today let’s start with
a business issue instead of a software issue. I want
to use my Outlook more like a contact management program,
can I do that?
Outlook is not a typical contact
management program. It does not run reports the way programs
like ACT, Goldmine and Saleslogix do. But if you’re
sales person or a one person company, you can use Outlook
as a way to begin managing your clients and prospects. In
the past we have discussed using categories for grouping contacts.
Did you know Outlook has fields for contacts like
: Referred By and Hobbies?
You can customize your Outlook
even further by creating your own fields. Open a contact record
of your choice and click on the tab marked All Fields.
Click the drop down and choose All Contact Fields.
This will show you all of the fields created by Microsoft.
Click New at the bottom to make your own.
To
see all the fields you create be sure to click User-defined
fields in this folder. This will show you all the
fields you created. Now customize away!
